  • How to Open a Brazilian Bank Account as a Foreigner

TABLE OF CONTENT Where can I open my Brazilian bank account? Documents & Application Process Basic & Premium plan Daily & Annual Limits OBS: You will need a CPF to open a Brazilian bank account, if you do not have one, please go to this guide first and obtain a CPF and then return to this guide to continue the process. Where can I open my Brazilian bank account? It can be really difficult to open a Brazilian bank account for a foreigner, this is the exact reason why I am writing this post, to help you go through this process easily and quickly. The bank we're going to be using is Banco Rendimento, we will be opening a CDE (Conta de Domiciliado no Exterior) in the mentioned bank completely online with the default documents that you would need for opening a bank account in most countries around the world. Let's get started, you can open your CDE account in Banco Rendimento following this link . 2. Documents & Application Process At the bottom of the website, you will see a form where it says "Abrir CDE", fill out this form and you will receive an email with the further instructions that I will guide you through. OBS: Official Banco Rendimento emails for this process are and , any other emails are attempt of scam or phishing attack. Email will contain a welcome message and a link to open your account, most of the Banco Rendimento forms and emails have English translation, so that should help you through the process. Following the link, you will be asked a lot of information, some of which are: -CPF -Residential address and country -Phone number -Monthly income -Monthly expenses -Upload of utility bill with your residential address on it -Upload of selfie -Upload of your passport -OPTIONAL: Proof of income, you can upload it later After this, you will receive another email to sign the contract with the bank and after that, you will be put in the process of bank account creation and will be emailed within 3 business days whether or not your application was accepted. 3. Basic & Premium Plan Banco Rendimento CDE offers two plans, depending on what you will need, you can pick between Basic or Premium plan: As you can see, even in the basic plan there are some fees for transactions, which might be good for a large sum of money since they're at a fixed rate per transaction, however, if you are not interested in paying fees and having your own Brazilian bank account, you can open a Wise (TED) or Paysend (PIX) account as a foreigner, check out my How to Pay with PIX as a Foreigner guide . OBS: PIX has a QR code you can scan to pay if you don't have a vendor's cpf or just want to pay faster, also CDE offers boleto and QR code scanning for paying utility bills if you own real estate in Brazil or paying any other form of boletos. 4. Daily & Annual Limits Daily limit of PIX transactions is R$50.000, which you will need to increase by yourself inside the Banco Rendimento app and since it's a larger sum of money, you will need to respond to an email from their customer support to confirm that it was you indeed who asked for this change. Be careful because Banco Rendimento has separated limits during the day and during the night using the Brasilia time zone, so that means if you've changed the limit to R$50.000 during the day, the same limit is not applied at night (exact hours are written inside the app), so make sure to change both if you want your money available during any time of the 24 hours. As for the annual limits, I was told that any payment received above R$100.000 in a year might be subject to some questions by the Brazilian government, I've never put this sum of money on my CDE so I wouldn't know the process, but customer support agent said that they will usually just ask source and proof of money that you've deposited or received, so as long as you're not doing anything illegal, you should be able to prove the money coming in and have no issues with continuing your process of investing, buying a property or any other high value transactions. CONGRATULATIONS, YOU NOW HAVE A BRAZILIAN BANK ACCOUNT!

  • How to Buy & Activate eSIM in Brazil in 2025.

TABLE OF CONTENT Why do I need an eSIM in Brazil? Types of eSIM to Buy How do I Activate My eSIM? Random Calls from Brazilian Numbers? OBS: You will need a CPF number to get an eSIM, instead of comitting a crime in Brazil on your first day by using a CPF generator, check out my CPF Full Guide here and then return here after you get your CPF. You will need a Brazilian address, you can use your friend's or girlfriend's/boyfriend's address, it will do no harm neither to you or them. 1. Why do I need an eSIM in Brazil? eSIM in Brazil will introduce a whole new world of opportunities for you if you're looking to get serious about Brazil, but even if you're just passing by as a tourist, you could benefit from buying an eSIM. Believe it or not, eSIM is not expensive in Brazil and there are various packages that can be useful, which I will get to on 2nd step, for now, let's talk about what you'll be able to do with your eSIM. I'm sure you've already tried making an online account on one of the Brazil's famous websites, whether it is a shopping website or something else, making an online account will most likely need a verification with a confirmation code which in Brazil is mostly done via cellphone, not with an email as in other parts of the world. This means that signing up for a loyalty programme on your favorite Brazilian website won't be possible without a Brazilian phone number as well as serious websites like gov.br should you want to use it in the future. You might also want to keep your home country phone hidden from vendors and people you will meet for the first time, which is why you should get an eSIM, register it on WhatsApp and have a completely independent WhatsApp account without compromising your home country phone number. 2. Types of eSIM to Buy You'll be able to buy an eSIM "with recarga" or "without recarga", translated as an eSIM with or without credit on it, which is measured in BRL that you've paid at the local store. I suggest getting an eSIM "with recarga" since for an example, Vivo that I've used has many automatic options which you might accidentally activate and lose your money if you don't know how to navigate through their system of packages. You've bought your eSIM in a local store, now let's get to step 3 and activate it! 3. How do I Activate My eSIM? First of all, you'll put the chip in (no joke), after that you'll receive an SMS from Vivo usually from number 8955 saying welcome and giving you your new phone number, make sure to save it or simply keep the SMS to copy-paste it when needed. Secondly, make sure to turn off your Wi-Fi and turn on your Mobile Data , after which you will need your passport and your CPF number close to you because you'll receive a second SMS usually from number 103 which will have a link that looks like this "cadastro.vivo.com.br", open the link and pass the whole registration process. I will describe the registration process a little, you'll need to provide your CPF number, date of birth, a selfie, you'll need to scan a document with a photo, most likely your passport, but there are also other options such as CNH (Brazilian driver's license), RG, OAB (Lawyer's order card), CTPS, CRM (Migration card) and many other options, but as I've said, you will most likely use your passport. You will also need to put in your Brazilian address mentioned above in the observation part. Your eSIM will now be activated, you will enter the world of receiving 5 messages per day from Vivo about packages (yes, they can be annoying), however there are some really good personalized packages such as unlimited social media package, I believe I've paid only about 30 BRL ($5) for 20 days of unlimited social media and 10GB of internet for other apps, such as my Banco Rendimento account for PIX payments. 4. Random Calls from Brazilian Numbers? Alright, you've started receiving random calls from Brazilian Numbers, if you answer it will be a person saying you've called them, sent them an SMS or something and you'll be very, very confused, as I was the first time! Let me explain why this happens; in Brazil, famous number and internet provider companies that sell eSIM's do something that is called deactivation of old eSIM cards, which in translation is they deactivate an eSIM if you haven't put any credit in it for 6 months, thinking that you've abandoned the number. The reason you are receiving these calls is because someone who used the number you bought on your eSIM before is still using it although they've been marked as inactive and the eSIM has been resold (to you). That person can make calls, send SMS's and even open an WhatsApp account to keep it reserved so you can't make one, if that happens, you have the right to ask ex. Vivo for a new number, but let me tell you, most of the numbers are resold and it's just the way it is in Brazil, you'll need to block these people calling you, it's not a lot, maybe once in two weeks, but it's annoying work. How can you combat this? Well, it's very difficult, BUT, if you really care about the number, you can try registering it on https://www.naomeperturbe.com.br/ which will at least block the advertisement calls, which already helps a lot. CONGRATULATIONS, YOU NOW HAVE YOUR OWN BRAZILIAN NUMBER!

  • How to Write Brazilian Invitation Letter

What is Carta Convite (Invitation Letter)? Carta Convite is a formal invitation letter that is required in some countries for individuals who wish to visit friends or family. It is a document that the host writes to invite a guest to visit them. The letter typically includes information about the host, the purpose of the visit, the duration of the stay, and sometimes financial responsibility for the guest during their visit. When do you need a Carta Convite? You won't be needing Carta Convite if you will be staying in a hotel during your visit to Brazil , simply print on paper or save on your phone in PDF your booking with a hotel you're going to stay in and you can show that to the immigration control. However, if you are going to stay in a private house , whether it's your boyfriend, girlfriend or your friend accepting you into their home, you will need Carta Convite, so keep reading this blog post if this is the case. OBS: Return flight ticket will probably be asked of you, so it is suggested that you plan ahead and prepare it. How to get yourself a Carta Convite? 1. Contact a Brazilian resident: Find a friend, family member, or acquaintance residing in Brazil who is willing to send you an invitation letter. Obs: Carta Convite must be on the name of property owner where you will be staying. 2. Provide necessary information: Your Brazilian host will need your full name, passport details, dates of travel, and purpose of visit to include in the invitation letter. 3. Letter content: The invitation letter should include a welcoming note, details about your stay (duration, accommodation arrangements), and the host's contact information. You can go to the notary and pay them to write one for you or you can make your own using a model from the internet, just make sure to include what I wrote above and not to forget Step 4. (Notarization). Obs: Make sure to tell the host to be near the phone, it is very possible that the immigration control will call the host to check if the document is true. 4. Notarization: The invitation letter may need to be notarized by a Brazilian notary public to be considered valid. Obs: I've paid for everything (with delivery to Europe) about 200 reais (cca. 32 Euros, cca. 36 USD, May 2024) Remember to check the specific requirements and procedures with the Brazilian consulate or embassy in your area, as they may have specific guidelines for obtaining a "Carta Convite." CONGRATULATIONS! YOU NOW HAVE A CARTA CONVITE!

  • How to Pay With PIX as a Foreigner

TABLE OF CONTENT What is PIX? Why should you use PIX? How do I pay with PIX? PIX keys and transfer limits NEW PIX alternative: Banco Rendimento What is PIX? As you can see in the photo above, PIX is a form of instant payment that the government of Brazil has introduced to make payments safer, low-cost and quick. 2. Why should you use PIX? Probably one of the biggest reasons to use PIX is speed , yes, that's right, PIX is indeed an instant way of paying in Brazil and it will make your life easier while staying in Brazil. However, something else really important about PIX is that it is available 24/7 with low-cost fees and we all know that fees can make us bleed money in a foreign country. Here's an example, if you use Wise which is an app used very often by foreigners to pay in Brazil, not only you will pay big transaction fees and get horrible currency exchange rates , you will also need to wait about 3 business days for your payments to be received if you opt-in for a bank transfer to avoid transaction fees mentioned above. Where is the catch, you ask? Well, PIX got canceled on Wise and most forms of PIX are locked behind heavy requirements like owning a bank account, being a naturalized Brazilian or being married to a Brazilian to get Brazilian residency. Well, this blog post will show you the way to pay by PIX as a foreigner with a fixed transaction fee as small as 1,5 EUR! 3. How do I pay with PIX? The way to use PIX as a foreigner is by using Paysend app (referral). You will need your phone number to set up an account and the whole process is so simple it shouldn't take more than 5 minutes to be ready for payments! After you confirm the code with your phone, make sure to link the card you will be using to make payments, it can be Mastercard, Visa, UnionPay and many more types of payment. Paysend currently supports over 170 countries for receiving money and about 49 as of today for sending money, here's a full list of supported countries . 4. PIX keys and transfer limits PIX key (chave) is how one identifies themself in PIX payments, PIX key can be a CPF, e-mail address or phone number . Make sure to confirm full name of the recipient before confirming the transaction and share the receipt with the recipient as a proof of payment. Limits of PIX payments on Paysend are as following : You can raise the limits by verifying your residential address. OBS: PAYSEND USES BANK NAME FOR PAYMENTS AND NOT YOUR ACTUAL NAME, SO I DO NOT SUGGEST MAKING BIG PAYMENTS OVER PAYSEND SUCH AS BUYING REAL ESTATE, BIG INVESTMENTS OR LARGE MOVEMENTS OF MONEY SINCE IT COULD BE CONFUSING FOR THE RECIPIENT. INSTEAD, OPT-IN FOR WISE (REFFERAL) AND PLAN 3 BUSINESS DAYS AHEAD USING BANK TRANSFER TO PAY LARGE SUM OF MONEY WITH NO FEES. NEW PIX Alternative: Banco Rendimento Banco Rendimento is what I use now, I've switched to it because of the better version of PIX with more options as well as paying by QR code and being able to invest in Brazilian CDBs (bank deposits). You can start with Banco Rendimento non-resident account using this link . CONGRATULATIONS, YOU CAN NOW USE PIX AS A FOREIGNER!
